Reaching for the Break
Wow! I can't believe it's almost Thanksgiving Break. What happened to October? I'm sure the students have been counting down this week for a while. The Tech chapter has been very active through weekly small group Bible studies, 180, our Chapter Retreat on Oct. 21-23, daily prayer meetings, an Autumn Festival Extravaganza and Costume Party, a semi-formal dance, and a few football games (some great, some not so great). We just recently had a Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church at the prayer room in my house where students could sign up for an hour long shift. That was intense. I included some pics from the fall, as well as part of my most recent newsletter.
What’s it like to come back to Virginia Tech?
That’s the question that I get asked most often. Coming back to Virginia Tech brings back a lot of great memories that I will have the privilege to continue experiencing. The windy walk across the Drillfield. Maroon and orange Saturdays at Lane Stadium. Lamenting the life of the sleep deprived engineering student. The annual chatter and hype of a possible championship in football. The quaintness of Downtown Blacksburg. The Duckpond. I love all of these things, and coming back to my alma mater is a true joy. As I started hanging out with students on campus, I really felt like a student again. I felt like I never left, like the past year and a half was a big blur. Sure there are difficulties about being the staff worker for the chapter in which you were just a student, but I would say that the transition has been very smooth. It helps a lot to know the culture of the campus, the history of the chapter, the Virginia Tech student experience, and to have a few friends still here from my undergrad days.
